Welcome to this blog

Hello Everybody

The Burren National Park Management Plan is currently being prepared by Eireco (Mr Paul Murphy), Broadview Ecological Consultants (Dr Grace O'Donovan) and Dr James Moran (Sligo IT). The draft Plan is to be submitted at the end of February 2010.

As the time for the preparation of the Plan is short, it is not possible to meet all the stakeholders face to face. I have set up this blog specifically to gather the thoughts of those of you who have, or have had some input into reseach within the Park. It will run for one month only.

The main emphasis of the Plan will be on management of the Park, and from our preliminary discussions, it appears that the are several main themes e.g. habitat diversity, grazing pressure, the role of goats, scrub encroachment, education and tourism.

I would propose that we cover these topics individually to keep our thoughts focussed, so I have set up separate topics for posting. Please feel free to make other suggestions than those above.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Dr Grace O'Donovan
